Our Puppies
From coast to coast, our puppies continue to spread sunshine — some training for Search & Rescue, others soaking up the simple joys of beach life, and everything in between. Each story reminds us why we do what we do: raising confident, loving Bloodhounds who bring joy, purpose, and connection wherever they go.

Puppy Spotlights
Each of our puppies has a story, and each family adds a new chapter. Our puppy families generously share their experiences, and we’re honored to spotlight a few of their stories here.

The Rays of Sunshine Start
At Rays of Sunshine Bloodhounds, our puppies are raised with hands‑on care, thoughtful structure, and early foundations that help them grow into confident, healthy companions. Our standards below reflect the core practices we use to give every puppy the best possible start in life.
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
Our puppies receive Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) during their first weeks of life. ENS is a gentle handling protocol originally developed for military working dogs and later adopted by breeders to support healthy brain development, stronger stress responses, and confident temperaments. We incorporate ENS because we see the positive benefits it provides as puppies grow.
Structured Feeding & Growth Monitoring
From birth until the day they go home, our puppies follow a carefully managed feeding routine that supports steady, healthy development. Each puppy is weighed often and tracked on detailed weight charts to ensure they are gaining at the proper rate for their age and size. This consistent monitoring allows us to spot changes early and adjust feeding or support as needed so every puppy stays on track. Gentle probiotics are also introduced to help support digestion and ease the transition into their new homes.
Sound Introduction & Environmental Exposure
From birth, puppies are gently introduced to everyday sounds through music, voices, and environmental noises. As they grow, we add age‑appropriate sound exposure to help build confidence and reduce sensitivity later in life.
Veterinary Oversight & Preventative Care
Puppies receive routine deworming, age‑appropriate vaccinations, and a full veterinary exam before going home. We work closely with our veterinarian to ensure each puppy is healthy and ready for their new family.
Crate Introduction
We introduce puppies to crates in a positive, low‑pressure way. Treats and exploration help them build a good association with the crate, making the transition to their new home smoother. While they are not fully crate trained, they are familiar with the crate environment.
Potty Foundations
Puppies begin potty foundations early through designated potty areas, artificial grass, and exposure to doggy doors. These early steps help them adjust more quickly when they move to their new homes.
Gentle Grooming Habits
Puppies are introduced to nail filing and basic grooming so they become comfortable with gentle handling from an early age.
What Our Puppies Go Home With
Every Rays of Sunshine puppy leaves with a thoughtfully prepared tote designed to make the transition smooth and supported. Your puppy’s tote includes:
-
Their first embroidered drool towel.
-
A starter supply of their current food.
-
Puppy probiotics to support digestion during transition.
-
Toy or blanket carrying familiar scent for comfort.
-
Safety breakaway collar to start them getting used to wearing a collar.
-
Personalized folder containing their puppy profile, veterinary vaccination record, AKC registration along with helpful educational materials from AKC.
-
Optional microchip (owner’s choice). Our veterinarian can place a microchip at owner cost during the puppy's exam. Some families prefer to have their own veterinarian microchip their puppy instead — either option works well.
